For the past few weeks we have been developing the design for our robot. So far we have several designs for input and output systems with relation to the low efficiency goal and gears. Along with these objectives, we also are working on the ready for takeoff  (RFT) and gears. As a team we agreed to make gears a lower priority than the RFT).We  converted our ideas to be more tangible by making prototypes with both cardboard, and then later with more realistic materials. Our  primary plan is to collect fuel (wiffle balls) and dump them into the low efficiency goal in the boiler.  RFT will be our most challenging aspect, with the goal to have the robot climb a rope to press the touchpad and hold it for a whole second without falling. To move forward so that we can finalize some of our ideas into a working robot, we have been doing a lot of research on the specs of different parts and materials. The programming team has also been working to understand the type of wheels we plan to use and how to appropriately code for them. To move forward with other matters besides the robot, we have been working on our short responses for Chairman’s. We’re so excited to get to participate in Chairman’s this year. As for our continued outreach, we can’t wait to demo at the Capitol for STEM Matters. We hope to see all of you there! 😃
